Research Interests:
Nurse turnover is an important indicator associated with workforce stability, healthcare quality, and patient safety. Health information technology (HIT) interventions have increasingly been implemented to improve clinical workflows and reduce administrative burden; however, their organizational impact on workforce outcomes remains less frequently evaluated. This retrospective descriptive quality improvement study analyzed annual nurse turnover rates from 2023 to 2025 at a single hospital in Taiwan. HIT interventions were initiated in 2023 and included nursing documentation digitalization, workflow integration, and administrative process automation. Descriptive statistics were used to examine turnover trends following implementation. Results demonstrated a continuous downward trend in nurse turnover rates after HIT implementation. Turnover decreased from 25.33% in 2023 to 21.69% in 2024 and further to 17.95% in 2025, representing a cumulative reduction of 7.38 percentage points over three years. These findings suggest improved workforce stability during the post-implementation period. This study indicates that nurse turnover rate may serve as a feasible supplementary system-level indicator for evaluating the organizational impact of HIT within quality improvement initiatives. Integrating workforce outcomes into digital health evaluation may contribute to more comprehensive assessments of healthcare quality and sustainability.
